Jonathan Broun is the owner and only employee of the Law Office of Jonathan E. Broun. He has a great relationship with his boss. Since 1994 he has represented those facing the death penalty at trial, direct appeal, state post-conviction, federal habeas and clemency. Despite that, he still remembers the names of his two children. Mr. Broun considers his greatest accomplishments to be 1) ghostwriting the certiorari petition in McCarver v. North Carolina, which led the United States Supreme Court outlawing the execution of intellectually disabled persons; 2) telling a juror a hilarious Steelers-Ravens rivalry joke during voir dire in a capital trial, and 3) being personally responsible for the North Carolina Tar Heel women’s soccer team winning 23 national championships in his life time. In his spare time, Mr. Broun enjoys watching reruns of the 2022 NCAA Final Four game between North Carolina and Duke (which was won by Carolina 81-77), dancing to highlights of the 2016 World Series, and sleeping.
